The Serendipity 43 was designed by Doug Peterson to compete in the 1980 Southern Ocean Racing Conference (SORC). These yachts were built by New Orleans Marine of a new epoxy composite. The design was strengthened by airex filled horizontal and vertical ribs in addition to seven 360 degree bulkheads. This design is noted for its light weight, strength, flexibility and double digit speed. *** Much of the content in this blog is from people who have experience with these amazing boats.

I helped put WINGS together right before the 1979 Transpac. We just made the start on July 4th. did the delivery while still bolting down gear and wiring electronics.
1979 was a light year with a couple of day becalmed in mid-pacific. I sailed on Mamie a Carter 42- 2 Ton that was light years behind this boat in design. Mamie was 5th ans wings was second.
the serendipity was a breakthrough boat with much better up and down wind characteristics.
Doug had that era figured nicely.
